ZALMAN S-SERIES 128GB INTRODUCTION

Solid state drives are generating more buzz as time goes on, and for good reason. They provide many advantages over traditional hard drives. A big draw to this new technology is no moving parts inside the drive. This translates into silent operation, zero heat, and a very, very slim chance of mechanical failure. It also means better durability - a solid state drive can easily survive a fall to the floor.
Of course, improved performance is also a good reason to consider a SSD. Read speeds in particular are noticeably faster and more consistent with a solid state drive, and you can count on improved write speeds as well. Unlike a platter hard drive, the location of data on a SSD is irrelevant and therefore doesn't adversely affect performance.
Whether you've already worked with solid state drives or are new to them, Zalman has a new offering to toss into the quickly expanding market. Their S-Series line of solid state drives feature optimization for AHCI mode, Windows 7 TRIM support, and is powered by a JMicron controller. Turn the page and come along with me as I put this new SSD to the test.
