PRODUCT COMPOSITION

So what do you get for the US$58-$70 price tag. Compared to Zalman coolers from only a few short years ago, this is a lot of cooler for the money. Once you pick up the box, the heft is noticeable.

First out is the mounting hardware for most, if not all, recent Intel and AMD models. Also included is Zalman's ZM-STG2 Super Thermal Grease, the Fan Mate fan speed controller with its needed cables along with a case badge.

A installation manual is included and is easy to read and understand for whatever processor you are installing the cooler on. There is nothing worse than reading the tiny micro-text on some of the pitiful installation guides attached to some products lately. Thankfully, this wasn't a problem with this product.

The fan controller can be popped out of the top of the heatsink and through an extension cable, can be routed outside of the case and attached remotely for easily accessible fan control without worrying about messing with the PWM software or opening the case. You have three auto settings for noise control or a manual mode with an adjustment dial. A very good class-leading feature.

And last out is the box is the main cooler. Much like the CNPS10X Quiet, the Extreme version is exceptionally well built and kicks everything up an additional notch. As mentioned earlier, the heft of this thing is really impressive. This isn't some stamped tin cooler. This is a focused piece of cooling hardware.

More on that on the next page.
