The X800XL's R430 VPU core is ATI's first core manufacturered via the new 0.11um process to save money and lower the product manufacturing costs which in turn can be passed down to the consumer.

Other than that, you still have the full 16 pipelines which is four more than the X800 pro to help reduce any potential bottlenecks. The one other factor is the lower clock rates which should be easy to overcome through a little overclocking.
