The Restore tab lists all the backups made of the registry before a repair was performed. In the event of any problems resulting from changes made by the software, simply restoring the registry back to its original state will correct it. Backups are done automatically.
The Settings tab has a few simple options to configure how the program starts up and also to confirm backups. A log file is created after every scan and can be viewed or deleted at any time.
Additionally, you can configure the software to ignore any registry entry you choose by typing the path and adding it to an ignore list.
Now that we've looked at the features of Registry Booster 2, let's scan the registry and have a look at the repair and defrag process.
By clicking the “Start Scan” button on either the Overview or Registry Scan tab, the software will take a minute or two to go through the registry and find errors. When finished…
…the following screen will appear. Evidently, the registry on my computer needed some attention with all those errors found! I left all entries checked and clicked on “Repair Registry”. Remember a backup is automatically created.
During the repair, a progress bar appears. This process only took a few seconds and after it completed, a reboot was required.
After the reboot I ran the registry defrag (also located on the “Registry Scan” tab) which only took about a minute, then another reboot was required. Similar to a hard drive defrag, this process is designed to compact the registry and optimize its performance.
So how did Registry Booster 2 work? Well, I must say I noticed an immediate improvement in the way programs open and close and the overall speed of my computer. I have not noticed any problems whatsoever with any programs since the repair of the registry. Not bad for only a few clicks and a few minutes of my time!
