PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Back in 2004, Ultra Products introduced the enthusiast community to the X-Connect, the world's first fully modular power supply. A detachable cabling system meant that only the cables required for a build could be used, resulting in a case that had better airflow and ultimately cooler temps. Since then modular power supplies have really gained in popularity and more manufacturers are adopting the technology. In 2006 Ultra released the X2, the successor to the X-Connect in 550W and 750W versions. To meet the demands of today's high end rigs, Ultra has answered with the third generation, energy efficient X3 in 600W, 800W, 1000W, and 1600W flavors. The 800W X3 will be the focus of today's review, so let's get right to it.
