PRODUCT PICTORIAL & WALKTHROUGH
Let's take a short stroll around this product and find its interesting features.
Just to reaffirm what I said on the previous page, this hub is indeed small and to better show its relative size, I compared it to your standard card you will find in your wallet. As you can see, this hub will not take up very must space on any desk.
Starting from the front and moving to the rear you are first met with the 7 USB 2.0 capable USB connections. Any combination can be used at any time with no limitations. In order to make sure you do not overdraw the computers USB 5.0V rail, the hub comes with its own power source to keep from doing any damage to the motherboard or your computer's power supply. But on a separate note, this hub will work without the power connected if you are using low power draw components.
Next we have the seven push-button switches associated with the seven connections. You press and lock the button down, the red LED will illuminate indicating the device is connected to computer "A", if you release the button and the LED will illuminate green indicating it is connected to computer "B". And that is just about the most complicated thing you will have to worry about when using this hub.
The hub's rear connections are comprised of the two computer USB connections for the two computers you will be connecting to this hub, and in addition you will see on the far left a port for connecting the power supply.
So how did I like this small and inexpensive product?
To start off, this is a very convenient product for a very fair price. It performs as promised with little to no drawbacks. With a practical "plug n' play" setup, installing this handy device takes only a couple minutes and that is including starting up the two computers you are going to be connecting. I personally saw no increase in transfer time from any of my devices (mostly my digital camera) and pushing each connection button had the device being immediately disconnected to the one computer, and connecting to the other with little to no lag. What more can I say, it does work as intended.
Now the one thing that I would add to this package to make it even better is some sort a mechanism to attach it somewhere so it isn't so prone to slide or fall off the desk if you trip on a USB cable by mistake and drag every connected peripheral onto the floor. Whether it is a small suction cup or even a small piece of velcro will have this product firmly attached to the desktop and out of harms way. other than that, there is really nothing I can derive as a glaring fault.
