If you've ever used any Thermaltake products in the past, you'll find the packaging familiar. A sturdy cardboard box incorporating a convenient carry handle is wrapped in clear plastic and provides ample protection for the contents.
Inside, you'll find the PSU itself, encased in white bubble wrap. A box containing the power cord and mounting screws, and a users guide round out the contents.
PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH
Like most of Thermaltake's higher-end power supplies, the Toughpower 550 has a highly reflective black finish that my associate, Mr. Bones, finds irresistible. Although attractive, the finish is a fingerprint magnet.
The Toughpower 550W is cooled by a temperature controlled 120mm fan protected by a “black chrome” grille. Grillwork on the rear of the power supply provides ample open area for good ventilation of the unit. The customary socket for the power cord, an input voltage selector switch and a power switch are located at the rear also. As you can see, the cables are sleeved with a black mesh material secured by black shrink tubing, with the exception of the blue fan sensor wire. Though upside-down in this photo, Thermaltake has placed a (somewhat) attractive graphic on the side of the PSU that is visible after installation. In most cases, all you see here is a rather ugly label. This graphic plate is covered by a plastic sheet to protect it during shipping.
