PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES

We'll go over the many interesting features in more detail as we move through our review of the Thermaltake Xaser IV, but I'd like to give you a quick preview now. There are several nods to the liquid cooling community, a total of ten expansion slots for the gamers, and a removable motherboard tray and cable management system for the enthusiasts. The Xaser is largely tool-free and will accept most any ATX motherboard.

After perusing the above specifications, we can see that the Xaser VI is a large case, and while relatively light for its size, I doubt that many people will be lugging it to LANs or anywhere else. Lots of drive space and cooling options along with a very full-featured I/O array make this latest Xaser look very good on paper. Let's dig a little deeper and see how it holds up to some more intense scrutiny.

PRODUCT COMPOSITION

Here's the big box that showed up here at the lab. In typical Thermaltake fashion, the carton is sturdy, informative and attractive. Inside, I got a bit of a surprise.

In addition to the cloth bag and foam blocks, formed fiberboard reinforcements and extra foam blocks kept the Xaser VI snug and protected throughout its long voyage. I don't generally spend many words on packaging, but I think Thermaltake deserves some credit for going the extra mile to assure that this high-end case reaches the end user in great condition.

Even under all that packaging, extra protection for the door and I/O cover assure that nothing gets damaged during shipping.

Along with the case, Thermaltake includes a lot of other accessories. Clockwise from the left, we have a set of keys, a bag containing hardware and cable management goodies, the manual and green sheet, a 140mm fan and bracket, a black plastic bezel for the aluminum 5.25-to-3.5 inch adapter that sits atop the plastic drawer insert and polishing cloth.
