PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

So, here's the deal. There's this guy, see, (we'll call him Buster) and he wants to build the Mac-Daddy of all gaming systems. He wants to build the system around a pair of 8800GTX cards and all the other high-end stuff to go along with it. So where does he find a power supply with enough power (and connectors) to feed this beast? Well, Thermaltake's new Toughpower 1000W (model W0132RU) may be just the ticket for Buster's monster rig. With 1 kilowatt of power and four very powerful +12V rails, this unit should have no trouble with any configuration that it is likely to encounter. As we'll see a bit later, the 1000W Toughpower has a wide range of connectivity options as well. Not only can it be configured to supply power through four 6-pin PCI-E connectors, there are also three of the newer 8-pin PCI-E connectors! It's CrossFire certified and SLI ready, too. We just happen to have a review sample of the Toughpower 1000W here in the lab, so let's see what it has to offer.
