THECUS N4200 NAS INTRODUCTION

As storage needs increase, so does the likelihood of a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device finding its way into the home or business network. It's for good reason too many NAS units are easy to set up and configure, are accessible from any PC on the network, and most offer some form of RAID level for data redundancy. Simply put, centralized storage benefits everyone on the network in many ways.

Thecus has shown us some quality NAS units in the past, and I now have a new offering from them on my desk for review. The N4200 is a beast of a machine, boasting a dual-core Intel Atom 510 CPU, 1GB DDR2 SDRAM, and four drive bays that support up to 8TB of storage space. What really sets this NAS apart from the others however, are the built-in failsafe features. A battery backup keeps the N4200 running in the event of a power outage, and a Disk On Module (DOM) contains a copy of the firmware in the event the primary firmware becomes corrupted.

It's time to take this NAS for a test run and see how it performs.
