PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH

A glimpse inside the unit shows the four SATA connectors with an exhaust fan behind them. The interior is nice and open to encourage maximum airflow around the drives.

Moving around to the back, the prominent feature is the 92mm exhaust fan. Towards the top are two more USB ports, and at the bottom is an internal power supply, WAN, and LAN port. There are also three thumbscrews that release the outer shell of the unit.

Removing the cover reveals all the inner workings of the NAS, including the passively cooled processor and RAM. Since this area is accessible without voiding the warranty, it made me ponder whether the RAM and/or processor could be upgraded. A web search didn't turn up any info on the possibility of that, however.
PRODUCT INSTALLATION AND TESTING

Installing drives in the N4100 Pro is not a complex process at all. Simply pull the tray out and secure the drive to the tray with the included screws. Slide it back into the bay, and you're done!

Once the drives are installed and the NAS is plugged into a switch or router, it can be configured. Initial setup is done through a wizard the included setup CD. As evidenced by the splash screen here, Thecus uses a universal setup wizard for just about all their products.
