PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH

The 4100 Pro is predominantly black in color except for silver panels that surround the status lights and LCD. There is also a white mesh material covering the inside of the access door. This allows an additional means for warm air to escape from the drive bays.

The left side of the unit is decorated with status LEDs. A blue power LED is at the very top, and it's followed by “busy”, “WAN”, “LAN”, and “error” LEDs respectively. Rounding out this area is a USB port and the power button. The USB port can be used to transfer files from an external disk, connect a printer, or attach an uninterruptible power supply.

An LCD at the bottom displays info such as RAID status, IP address, and uptime. Below it are navigation buttons that are used when copying to and from a USB drive. We'll check this out in more detail later on in the review.

Flipping open the door reveals the four drive bays. Each sports a silver latch with a lock for security. Tugging on the latch…

…releases the tray and it can be pulled straight out. The trays are made of lightweight plastic but still have a sturdy feel to them. Each tray has its own indicator lights for power and activity too.
