PRODUCT INSTALLATION AND TESTING

Installing drives is very easy and requires no tools. Once the rails are removed, they are fastened to the drive…

…then inserted into the bay and tightened down using the thumbscrews. I've installed three Western Digital 500GB drives, so now it's time to plug everything in, power it up, and get this NAS operational.

In order to access the N3200 Pro from a PC on your network, it must first be configured using the included setup CD. Clicking on the correct model of NAS will start the wizard.

The first step is device discovery. It only took a couple of seconds for the NAS to be found on my network while plugged into a Linksys WRT54G router. In the event you're having trouble with this step, there is an entire chapter in the online manual devoted to troubleshooting.

The next step is to configure network settings. A static IP can be assigned if you wish, or you can leave it at DHCP and let the NAS grab any available IP address.
