PRODUCT COMPOSITION
With a price of around $650 US, it's imperative that the product be well protected to prevent any damage during the shipping process. Synology did well in this area; the NAS and accessories were packaged securely and arrived safe and sound.
No hard drives are included with this unit, but as far as accessories go, everything else you need is provided. A setup CD, quick start guide, Ethernet cable, power adapter, power cord, and installation screws are inside the box.
PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH
The DS411+ has a different look than past Synology units I've reviewed, but I like the outward appearance of this unit. It has an understated elegance that will integrate perfectly into a business environment.
The front panel features a power button in the center, and to the left of that are indicator lights for the system status and LAN status. To the right of the power button are indicator lights for each of the internal hard drives. There is no front USB port on this unit which is a bit puzzling.
Each side of the NAS is stamped with the Synology logo; this is also a new design feature that wasn't present on other units.
