PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH

The DS411 Slim definitely lives up to its name. This NAS has tiny dimensions of approximately 4.5 x 4 x 5.6 inches, but you still have a full set of indicator lights on the front for system status, LAN, and each HDD. A USB port rounds out the front panel while a power button and USB Copy button are located just to the side.

Around back we have four 2.5” drive bays, an eSATA port, USB 2.0 port, Ethernet port, and AC adapter port. They drive bays have no locking mechanism, instead...

...they pull straight out and for instant access to your HDD's or SSD's. The trays are constructed of plastic, but are very well made and I see no reason why they wouldn't hold up long-term.

Removing all the trays and looking inside, we can get a view of the SATA connectors as well as the system board. The cooling fan is on the bottom of the unit.

That about does it for the hardware walkthrough, now let's move on to installation and testing to see what the software can do.
