PRODUCT FEATURES AND SPECIFICATIONS

Looking at the hardware specs, the combination of a 1.6GHz CPU and 256MB of DDR3 RAM is impressive for a unit of this size and price range. A 60mm fan is responsible for cooling for up to four 2.5" HDD's or SSD's, and the low power consumption by this unit will appeal to those looking for a "green" solution.

Synology products support various printers, hard drives, IP cameras, wireless dongles, backup software, and even some USB speakers. A list of all the supported peripherals can be found HERE along with the compatible NAS models. On the software side of things, the DS411 Slim can do just about everything that its larger siblings can, and we'll take a closer look at these features as we go through the review. So far, things are looking quite promising.
