PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Storage and preservation of data has become a top priority amongst users of both corporate and home computer networks. One of the worst possible scenarios an IT manager or home user will ever face is the loss of important data without the possibility of retrieving it. To avoid such a catastrophe it is helpful to deploy a NAS, either as the main point of storage for a network or as a secondary storage unit to compliment a backup system that is already in place. A further advantage to using a NAS is the additional features that many of them provide, like the unit I have on my desk for review. Today we'll be taking a walk around Synology's DS-209 NAS, which not only provides a host of storage and backup features, but a lot of other network functions too. Let's check it out.
