PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS & FEATURES:

The W1800UX2GP is an extreme performance 2GB DDR3-1800 memory kit based on advanced Project X technology. This kit supports 1800MHz+ clock speeds, aggressively tuned latencies and XMP to deliver ultimate performance. It is ideal for gamers, power users and overclockers, and is perfectly suited for motherboards based on the Intel P35 chipset.
This kit has been tested and is guaranteed to operate at 1800MHz at very aggressive 7-7-7-21 latencies at 2.0 volts. It has been tested as a matched pair of modules in a dual channel motherboard to ensure ultimate reliability, compatibility and performance.
Project X employs an extreme cooling solution that offers double the surface area and 106% more aluminum mass than standard heat spreaders. With Super Talent's special thermal adhesive, this cooling solution provides superior heat dissipation that results in a cooler, faster memory device.

PRODUCT COMPOSITION & WALKTHROUGH:
For around $499.00 you will receive the following.

You will receive two memory sticks which each having a capacity of one gigabyte. Super Talent's High-Speed DDR3 comes equipped with a extended notched heat spreader design for cooling. The added surface area can allow the ram to take advantage of airflow from a large CPU fan to keep the ram cool. Defiantly a nice design touch on Super Talents part.

The only downside to this extended heat spreader design, would be space limitations in some situations. The only time you might encounter this limitation, would be a very slim profile HTPC case. Other than that, it shouldn't provide any installation hassles.

Because the Super Talent W1800UX2GP DDR3 Kit is single sided ram, they deemed it unnecessary to extend the heat spreader to the backside of the ram. Since the chip side generates most of the heat, you can understand the reasoning here. However, sometimes the extra side of the heat spreader can add to the durability of the ram. The kit can be handled almost exclusively buy the extended heat spreader, and thus negates this issue. During testing I found the one sided heat spreaders to be more than adequate cooling for this kit. The ram never got hot to the touch, even during heavy benchmark sessions.

Super Talent certainly has a unique design concept for this ProjectX kit. It stands out in a crowd of generic DDR3 Kit design. Ringing in at an 1800MHz clock speed also provides enough potential bandwidth to displace the current fastest DDR2 offerings.
One this to consider is limited motherboard support to accommodate the rated speed of these modules. In fact the ASUS P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Motherboard Is only one of two boards, when I checked, listed on Newegg that claim support for the 1800MHz Standard. When the 1800MHz standard is selected in the bios, it has to overclock the system to get the right ram ratio/bus speed to natively support this ram (anything beyond DDR3-1333 the fastest selectable memory multiplier setting with most motherboards will be relegated to overclocking). However, support for this new speed spec will improve with new chipset releases. Keep this in mind when making your board selection.
