PRODUCT COMPOSITION AND TESTING

On close inspection you can see the anodized fiber polished finish. This is an extreme close up shot so it appears rough, in actual fact you can only just feel the texture when brushing your fingers across it. I did notice that the finish picks up fingerprints and the like very easily but it in no way effected the performance of the pad.

Included in the package you will receive a set of Glide MS mouse feet, a steel series catalogue, a pamphlet about SteelSeries Security and a cloth to help keep your pad dust free. The inclusion of the mouse feet is a very nice touch.

The underside of the pad sports a very nice rubber pad that will ensure your mouse pad stays where you put it.
Installing the included mouse feet is a simple peel and stick exercise. Simply remove the old feet and stick on the new ones. As you can see the Glide MS feet would not fit in my mouse’s original feet location but the Glide MS feet are thick enough that you can place them anywhere you like on the mouse. The difference these make is huge, I feel like I have a new mouse.
TESTING
Well, I have tested this pad extensively over a period of about a month and I honestly could not be happier. From web browsing to 3D work to games this is the best mousepad I have ever had the pleasure of using. The surface IS “really, really smooth” as stated in the specifications. Playing games with the SX took some getting used to, I tended to overcompensate a lot at first seeing as I’m used to a little more resistance in my mouse pad. Another good point is that when you put pressure on the mouse you get more resistance thanks to the texture of the pad, very useful for those of you who like sniping. After a few minutes however I quickly got used to it and I don’t think I will ever use another pad for gaming again, it really is that good.
