PRODUCT INSTALLATION AND TESTING

The drive mounting however was quick and painless thanks to the rather ingenious mounting system. A little fiddling to get the holes lined up and everything went in without a hitch. To put in the drives you have to turn the knobs vertical, at which point they pop out slightly. Once the drive is in place one simply pushes the knobs in whilst sliding the drive around slightly until the knob goes in all the way then turn it back to its original position. This is made easy for the hard disks due to a stopper that aligns the holes perfectly. The DVD drive however required a bit more playing.

There is also a nice amount of room between the drives to allow for decent cooling. This is more important these days when drives can be one of the hottest things in your case next to your CPU and GPU.

The Swirl has nice matching stealth drive covers that really help keep the front of the case looking clean and sharp. The mechanism worked flawlessly. Many times I have encountered defective design in this area but Spire was up to the bar here.

Without the front panel power connector connected you can tidy your wires up nicely.
