When one thinks of memory cards they probably think of the card that is in their digital camera. I know I do. But it's not just cameras that use memory cards anymore. Cell phones, GPS units, netbooks, and even video game consoles take advantage of the small size and increasingly large storage capacity of flash memory cards. They are a low-cost, convenient, and reliable way to store all sorts of data.
When it comes time to read the data stored on a memory card, there are a couple of different ways to go about it. Using a USB cable you can plug the device (such as a camera) directly into an open USB port on your computer and access files on the card that way. Another way (and this is my preferred method) is to remove the card from the device and insert it into a card reader attached to the PC. Not only is this typically faster, but it doesn't waste precious battery life since the device does not need to be powered on during the process.
There are no less than a slew of card readers on the market today, and Spire has sent the Tweaknews lab a sample of their SP331CB CombiPod external USB hub/card reader combination device. Turn the page as we take a walk around this simple to use product.
