PRODUCT COMPOSITION & PICTORIAL
The SilenX 400W PSU was delivered to me wrapped tightly in a clear
plastic bag. The cables were neatly tied, and also included was the
power cord and an instructional sheet which contained the product's
specifications.
At first glance, the SilenX PSU doesn't exactly cause
a stirring in the ol' pants. The unit is quite plain, except for the
blue rubber push pins holding the fan grill in place. None of the cables
are sleeved, and the fan does not contain any colourful LEDs.
That being said, let me state that this PSU was not intended
to dazzle its target audience with flash and bling-bling. It has a specific
purpose, and that is to provide stability and silence… and we will go
further into how it achieves that goal later on in the review.
There is only one fan in this unit, although ventilation
and cooling did not prove to be an issue during testing. I monitored
the temperature in various places in my Lian-Li PC75 case using my Digidoc5
fan controller. The box did run a few degrees warmer, although there
was absolutely no cause for concern.
