PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Ask anyone who has ever built a computer for a client and they will tell you that nine out of ten times, the client does not care what power supply unit (PSU) is installed. They may specify a preferred wattage, however rarely will they ever ask for a proven, quality PSU from a reputable manufacturer.

There is this popular misconception that all PSUs are created equally, and nothing could be further than the truth. A cheap, generic P.O.S. can cause system failures due to instability (remember that the voltages cannot fluctuate too much lest it damage your hardware), and over time, your hardware suffers.

"A recent study has shown that power and heat issues make up for over 80% of system failures." - SilenX (instruction sheet which accompanies their PSUs)

Most technicians and modders appreciate the importance of a quality PSU, however even they do not take enough pride in this precious piece of hardware. Check out some signatures on hardware/modders forums, and you will notice that many of the users list the contents/specs of their systems. Sadly, I have rarely ever seen a PSU listed.

I have an Antec TrueBlue 480 Watt PSU in my main rig, and I've got nothing but love for that baby. Today, I've got the privilege of reviewing the SilenX 400 Watt PSU… and you will be interested to hear what I've got to say about this quiet, little powerhouse.
