PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
The Sapphire HD5570 is a videocard that places itself between the HD5670 and the HD5450 at the time of this review. At a price of US$79-$85, it is slightly cheaper than the HD5670 and fills a void left by someone not wanting a full size card but wants a little more performance than what the HD5450 offered. If the HD5450 is being touted as a perfect HTPC card, than the HD5570 is its bigger brother than has been pumping iron at the gym. With 1 gig of ddr3 onboard, the HD5570 has 2.25x the memory bandwidth (28.8 vs 12.8Gb/sec), 5x the unified shader pipelines (400 vs 80), 5x times the VPU computer power (520 vs 104 GigaFLOPS) and still only sips power at 9.8watts at idle and 38 watts at max load.
To boil this down, what you get is all the lower power consumption benefits of the HD5450 with a little more gaming capability. This card is not intended nor will be marketed as a screamer and because of that it has to be reviewed accordingly. But you never know, it might surprise you to see how well it performs for such a cheap card.
