The one thing I have to initially point out about Samsung's LED based line of SMART TVs is that they are not your ordinary livingroom display. For one, it has built in WIFI that enables you to update the TV's firmware without the need of a flash drive which makes keeping your investment up to date with no effort. This also allows you to browse the internet, watch a movie through netflix, check out the latest viral video on Youtube along with a whole assortment of apps which can be downloaded for free through Samsung's APP interface. There has never been a TV until now that I have had experienced that blurs the boundary between TV and Home Theater PC to date.
The Samsung UN55D7000 being reviewed today is Samsung's largest LED TV that is Smart TV capable and has its eye on the consumer that doesn't want to pay the price premium to upgrade to a 8000 series, but still wants the added functionality. But with the added features aside, this particular model is constructed using Samsung's "One Design" which includes an ultra-slim bezel which gives the TV an almost frameless appearance to enhance the TV's ability to immerse the consumer into what they are viewing. But the surprising specification is that it is under 3cm thick without the stand to aid in wall mounting. Everything about this TV is shaved, thinned and clipped to allow the LED backlit panel to become the ultimate focal point and allow the viewer to forget that there is anything other than screen.
Through this review, I aim to give you my impressions while using this TV in its native environment, the livingroom. Through two months of use, you can find the good, and the not so good. This is no review where the TV was installed on an office desk for a couple hours, displayed a couple Blu-ray movies and was packed back up. My use will be the same as what you will experience.
Let's check it out.....
