SAMSUNG UN55B8000 LED TV INTRODUCTION
Now that LCD TVs are dominating the HDTV market, everyone is trying to elbow themselves into the market with new features, enhanced technology and better visual performance. Take for instance the Samsung UN55B8000 LED TV being reviewed today. Not only is it LED backlit to save power, it also incorporates Samsung 240Hz video processing for playback with minimal blur all while measuring in at a depth of an incredible 1.2 inches.
LCD TVs till little over a year ago were all plagued with ghosting and video artifacts during fast scene playback which made them less than ideal for sports, action movies or anything requiring faster motion. Seeing this is the environment ideal for plasma TVs and their extremely fast refresh rates, LCDs have been trying to dig and crawl their way to their goal of smooth playback while still sipping electricity at rates less than half of the equivalent sized plasma alternative.
Although the Samsung UN55B8000 is one of Samsung's best line of 8000 series LED TVs, it is missing a couple key features such as local LED dimming seen in the previous Samsung LN55A950 series I reviewed previously HERE.
Will this feature being a drawback and will 240hz technology make a difference that can be seen with the human eye? Well read on to find out.
