Let's take a virtual walk around the TV to point out some of its external features.
Starting off at the base, the polished metal (not real metal) cover is extremely simple and understated and allowed for 20 degrees of rotation in either direction. But what it gains in aesthetics, it loses in stability. When installing this TV on the stand, the base had a noticeable amount structural flex. This base might be fine for a 46 inch model, but for something this large, I would be using something a little more stable for safety. If you have some rowdy children that like to climb, secure this TV to the stand or keep them away. A monitor of this size can seriously harm or even kill a child if it tips and falls.
As you move around to the side, you still see that Samsung has kept the overall depth of this TV excluding the stand down to a mere 1.9 inches thick which is only 0.4 inches thicker than the 59 inch PN59D8000 reviewed HERE last year. For such a large Plasma, compared to past, the PN64E8000 could be consider a razor and can be easily wall mounted.
The rear connection panel houses 3 HDMI 1.3a, 3 USB, an optical out, a LAN, a PC (audio/video), an antenna along with your various analog video and audio inputs. Pretty well every possible connection type other than maybe a DVI connection is there and ready to be used.
