SAMSUNG PN58B850 PLASMA TV INTRODUCTION
I have to say, only recently I was guilty of all but declaring the plasma TV a dying breed and through the press lately, you wouldn't think Plasma TVs were still doing fine in the retail market. Sure LCD TVs have their comparatively better color reproduction and lower power consumption, but for the sport and action movie enthusiast, even 120-240Hz model's still had some sort of ghosting or image artifacts during fast video scene playback. With manufacturers trying their best to make LCD playback as smooth as possible, they still can't hold a candle to the silky smooth playback and deep black levels produced by a proper high end plasma TV.
The PN58B850 850 Series TV being reviewed today is Samsung's biggest and best plasma TV they have on the market till the 2010 models role out in the second have of this year. Through real world testing I will see how this TV performs in a day to day setting while displaying video feeds from HD satellite, DVD and Blu-ray sources. Testing occurs over a two month time period where the TV is used as intended which allows us the time to really shake the TV down for issues and to also realize its advantages.
So how did this rather large TV perform in a day to day environment? Continue at the bottom of this page for the link to page 2 to find out.
