PRODUCT WALKTHROUGH & PICTORIAL
Let's take a virtual walk around the TV to point out some of its external features.
Starting off at the base, the same Touch of Color design is continued throughout this display. Side to side movement is pretty generous and allows for around 20 degrees of movement from on either side without compromising the TV's stability. With such a large footprint, make sure you have or buy a TV stand that is able to support this TV properly and safely. Just because the TV is well planted doesn't mean it is designed to take a small child pulling on it and potentially having it land on them. This TV has enough heft to seriously injure or even kill a child if they are not kept away from this product.
As you move around to the side, this TV has the dimensions of most standard plasmas on the market. At 2.75 inches deep, this is in no way a bulky display, but it is over twice as thick as the 850 series I reviewed earlier. This might be something to consider if you will be considering a wall mount, but for standard use, the dimensions mean nothing. Plus keep in mind the US$500 you will be saving.
The 850 series didn't have a side connection panel, but this 650 does and I have to say it is incredibly useful and it was a feature I missed. If you need to upgrade the firmware, watch a movie or view photos off of your thumbdrive, it is one easy connection away. As you see you have two USB, one HDMI and a standard set of composite video and audio connections. This will be great for connecting a PS3 or XBOX.
