PRODUCT PICTORIAL & WALKTHROUGH
Moving around to the back of the monitor, things are pretty simple with a decoration resembling the cable organizer included in the hardware package. There is plenty of ventilation to keep the backlight cool and insure and long product life without failure. Backlights do get pretty warm and air circulation is key to keeping the light from overheating and failing.
The connection panel sticks to this model's simplicity by offering three connections. You have the main power connection and either the DVI digital or the Analog VGA connection. There isn't really anything else to point out. As mentioned earlier, this monitor is really quite simple and straight forward.
PRODUCT TESTING & IMPRESSIONS
So how did this monitor perform?
Let me lay things out plain and simple for you. With the advancement in LCD technology in today's models, regardless of manufacturer, as long as you pick a decent name brand, the chances of finding a really bad monitor is getting less and less likely by the month. There are subtle differences but not the glaring disadvantage that I have seen in models of year's past.
Although the Syncmaster 2233SW is not the brightest and most vivid monitor I have used lately, it doesn't have the premium price tag that would accompany a higher end panel. Regardless how you use it, it performs excellent while being used for your everyday tasks which would include your document production, internet surfing , video/movie viewing enjoyment and social media. I personally have been using this monitor at my main workstation for about 3 months now and have yet to see one problem. It fires up from its sleep mode very fast, is easy to configure and aesthetically merges into a workstation nicely. The added resolution capability over standard 1650 based 21-22" LCD models allows for more work area and still supplies a comfortable and easy to use desktop environment. Could I ask for more? Not likely at this price point. The only minor problem I could see was during dark movies or a black screen there is some back light bleeding through the LCD panel and exhibits a light halo. It's only seen during darker scenes and thus almost
Ah the ole' gaming environment. Once the weak link in the LCD monitor chain, most monitors today support a refresh speed of 6ms of slower thus allowing for smooth ghost-free gaming. The 2233SW reviewed today is a great gaming monitor. The added resolution makes for better gaming experience if you hardware can support it and through hours of online and first person gaming, I had no qualms to report. It's bright enough, its fast enough and its cheap enough. That's a great combination.
