Features:

10:000:1 Contrast Ratio

A 10,000:1 contrast ratio produces dramatic lights and darks that are perfectly able to capture complex images such as sunlight between clouds or light reflecting off bubbles.

549,000 Million Colors

More levels of shade equal a more natural picture. This is true for both digital resolution and plasma TVs. Previous technology could only produce 1,024 gradation shades for each cell. Samsung has not only broken, but far surpassed the most advanced technologies, by producing 8,192 gradation shades for red, green, and blue. But such a dramatic increase in quantity won¡¯t produce any visible improvements without a capable display panel. Now, with 13-bit processing, color expression is 500 times more advanced than conventional 10-bit processing, and even awe-inspiring phenomena like the Aurora Borealis can be perfectly recreated on your TV. Only a 13-bit system makes this richness possible.  And only Samsung Plasmas offer this visionary technology.

HD Ready

The HD Ready label addresses device-to-device compatibility issues that especially concern the your market, which is relatively new to HD technology. Samsung¡¯s state-of-the-art Plasma TVs fully support this initiative for standardization, which will bring the most significant advancement in image quality since color TV: high definition TV.

High Definition Media Interface

Imagine all your multimedia needs streaming to your plasma TV through one simple cable; no more complicated cable connections. This is the beauty of our HDMITM-ready system. With a universal cable provided and corresponding jack mounted on each plasma unit, you can enjoy uncompressed audio and visual content arriving directly from its source, without the data loss associated with analog transmission. Specifically designed for consumer electronics applications, any system incorporating DVI (Digital Visual Interface) and original sources, such as DVD and HD video signals, are fully compatible. With HDMITM, Samsung gives you the future of multimedia entertainment (P5 series and S5 series).

PC Compatible

Experience the benefits of the multimedia revolution by allowing your plasma TV to function as a PC monitor without any sacrifice in picture quality. Samsung Plasma TVs easily outperform typical PC monitors in terms of brightness, response time, resolution, and, of course, screen size.

60,000 Hour Lifetime

As a long-term rewarding investment, Samsung Plasma TVs have a life expectancy of 60,000 hours, which means guaranteed quality 8 hours a day for 20 years, or 10 hours a day for 15 years. Our technological advancements have increased the lifetime of our plasma displays to the match the performance of LCDs.

SRS TruSurround XT

Experience perfect 360-degree sound. Our system matches its dynamic images with the all-encompassing sound quality they deserve, giving you inspiring entertainment.

Samsung DNIe™ video enhancer

This feature enhances all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe™ by Samsung improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates a digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video.

Integrated ATSC/Digital Cable Ready Tuner

Use your Samsung TV's remote control to enjoy the world of digital cable and HDTV. CableCARD means that your TV connects directly to your cable signal without the need for a separate cable box. Simply plug your cable company supplied CableCARD into the slot in your Samsung TV, connect your signal and you're ready to go.

Anynet™ System Control Solutions

Control all your Samsung A/V components through a single TV remote with Samsung's Anynet™. Anynet is a network control allowing you to control key functions of the A/V devices connected to your TV via on screen menu.

SRS TruSurround XT™

TruSurround is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through the two-speaker internal playback system.

PRODUCT COMPOSITION

For around US$2000-$2100 you will receive the following.

First off, we will cover the included paperwork. As always you have your regular quick setup guide, your main user's manual and warranty and registration papers. To make sure you take advantage of the warranty, make sure you register or you may be left with the repair bill if you don't fill out the paperwork properly.

The included hardware is rather simple. You have a PC audio patch cable, a main power cable and the included remote control which come complete with batteries. The nice thing I found with this TV is the fact that the power supply is completely internal. This does contribute to a tidier home theater area. I was a little disappointed to see that there wasn't a PC VGA cable included seeing it does indeed have that functionality. For the extra couple of bucks I thought they would include it.

The remote control is complete and allows to access every single feature contained within this TV. Everything from the picture-in-picture to the volume is controlled through this one device. If you damage the remote, you still can access the TV through the buttons on the right side of the TV screen. I won't be going into too much detail on the remote seeing once you use one, you pretty well know them all. This remote is pre-programmed to run up to five Samsung components from this one remote and can be programmed for other makes through the user's manual.

And at last you have grunted and strained to perch your new purchase on top of its stand. When I say grunted and strained, I mean it, this is one HEAVY TV. I am quite a large guy and it took all my strength to lift it off of the ground an onto the entertainment center top which is close to four feet off of the ground. This is a two person job and make sure you are not foolish like me and tackle this yourself. This is not a very robust display and a loss of balance and a sharp knock can render your new TV useless even before it is even turned on. What makes up a good portion of the heft is the 1/4 inch glass pane which makes up most of the front of this TV. It measures in at approximately 42 inches wide and 25 inches tall and as you very well know, glass isn't exactly light. Just be careful and take your time.
