CONCLUSIONS AND AFTERTHOUGHTS

If I had $30 burning a hole in my pocket I can't say I'd spend it on the Pro Gamer Command Unit, but it still has some appealing features that will warrant a purchase for those who prefer a custom keyboard layout.

With 20 programmable keys and three different game modes, it should satisfy those with even the most meticulous preferences. Laptop gamers would find it useful as it would be worlds of improvement over the built-in keyboard. It's comfortable to use, the software is straightforward, and the backlit keys look cool as well. Don't expect to do any in-game text chatting obviously, and I wasn't too impressed with the button layout during fast paced FPS games. For slower paced games however, especially RTS titles, it would be great.

Pros:

- Three game modes to choose from, very customizable
- Analog stick comes in handy
- Comfortable to use
- Backlit keypad

Cons:

- Button layout not optimal for FPS gaming
- Customization can be time consuming
- Some buttons are hard to reach
