Introduction

With the introduction of many pre-modified cases coming with numerous case fans preinstalled, the need to control the noise is paramount. I for one thought I could take the noise of my 80dBA rig, and for 6 months and two relationships I did. The 120mm 135cfm, the 80mm 50cfm and the 2 92mm 74cfm case fans in my computer made one hell of a racket. Face it, if you want to drown yourself away from the griping and incoherant bitching of a significant other, a noisy computer is a god sent. But, when you have to turn your music up pretty well 3/4 volume to drown out the fan howl, it's time for a change. In steps the rheobus, a relatively simple concept of controlling current and voltages going to the fans through a small circuit board.

What the website says the rheobus is capable of:

-Ability to handle very large fans
-Ability to handle multiple fans
-Rated for fans up to 17 watts per switch
-Ultra bright blue LEDs
-Extra large heatsinks
-Cast aluminum knobs
-90 day warranty (exceeding watts per switch will void your warranty)
-Printed circuit board eliminates wiring mess
-Drill template ensures proper installation

What does the kit come with?

Here is an initial pic of what actually came with the package.

Here is the actual main circuit board that you will be installing in one of your 5 1/4 bays in your computer.

A Y-splitter for people that dont want to be sacrificing a power molex connector if they have a generic power supply.

Four aluminum dials you will be attaching to the front of the unit once it is installed in the computer for ease of turning the controllers.

Four LED holders which you will be installing the led's through once you have drilled the holes.

Four washers and four small nuts to hold the rheobus to the 5 1/4 bay cover.

And for the finishing touch, the allan key, which will be used to tighten the aluminum knobs to the rheostats on the board (Nice touch for it to be included!)

This will be the drilling guide to aid in your placement of your drill holes in the front faceplate where the rheobus will be going, make sure to line it up well!!

There is also a very comprehensive installation guide included which I never used because it is sooo easy to install. I have to face the facts, this rheobus sat in my closet for 4 months until I installed it because I thought it was a major undertaking. But, to my disbelief, I had this bugger installed in under an hour even with a couple of smoke breaks kicked in for good measure and relaxation.

Next (Onward Ho with the easy installation!!!)
