Ratpadz was started by Kyle Bennett who is the owner and Editor-in-Chief at HardOCP.com. Seeing that there wasn't a mousepad on the market that was up to his standards, he decided to contact a well known mousepad manufacturing company to manufacture the product. After a long needless delay and a verbal battle royale on the phone, Kyle decided to walk away from the unprofessional company representative and find another place where he could have the product made independently.
What resulted from this rather dramatic series of corporate events was the birth of one of the best mouse pads on the market today.
PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
With the introduction of optical and now laser mice, mousepads were quickly thought to be a thing of the past and would slowly fade into the background and become extinct. For the average home computer user, this is indeed true. For internet surfing and document creation on a standard home computer, you don't need a mousepad anymore if you use an optical mouse. The mousepad was only needed for ball mice seeing they needed a grippy surface for the mouse ball to come in contact with so it could move smoothly. With optical mice being castrated, the pad is deemed rather useless in most situations.......well....except one.
That one exception would be for gamers. Gamers need a slick, easy to clean and accurate surface for them to be successful as possible while gaming. Some people will scoff that a mousepad just isn't needed for a good gaming experience and I was once of them.
The key word here is "was".....

The GS and the XT offer the same surface area, both 11.5” wide x 9.3” tall. The cut-out design of our GS and XT allows for users to also turn the surface sideways utilizing it on the left and right sides of the keyboard.
Both the GS and XT are built with very tough polymers and can stand up to all sorts of gaming and LAN abuses. The XT is heavy duty and built for those that will use it for endless gaming hours. The GT is lightweight and great for travelers.
