PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH

If you’ve used a QNAP NAS before, then the design of the TS-809 will look very familiar to you. The placement of the power and USB copy buttons on the bottom left, the LCD at the top and the hot-swappable drive trays are all common amongst many models of QNAP small business and corporate NAS units.

The LCD is navigated using two buttons and there are LED indicators for system status, LAN, and USB. There is also a green LED for each of the eight hard drive bays that are visible when a drive is installed.

A sticker is placed on top of the unit that shows the sequence of the hard drives. Each tray also has a sticker on it indicating which bay it belongs in.

Two fans provide cooling for the drives, and you have four USB ports here at the back to add additional devices like external hard drives and printers. The power supply is conveniently built in and there are two gigabit LAN ports. Rounding out this area is a K-Lock slot and reset button. Also located on the back is a COM and VGA port, but they are both reserved for maintenance purposes.

The four circular stands on the bottom keep the unit slightly elevated off the desk as well as prevent it from sliding around and scratching the surface it’s sitting on. The sheer weight of the TS-809 combined with the stands makes any movement highly unlikely.
