PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH

The TS-439 Pro is a compact little unit with a modern design. The drives rest vertically rather than horizontally and there are only a few buttons on the front, giving it a clean look.

At the bottom left are power and USB copy buttons. The USB copy button is for copying files between an external USB disk and the NAS without using a PC. It's a nice feature to have and we'll look at it in more detail later on in the review.

Back near the top of the unit are indicator lights for system status, LAN, USB, and eSATA. They are right below the LCD so checking the status of anything happening on the NAS requires a glance at just this one area. Each hard drive tray has its own power LED, too.

A tug on the drive latch releases the hard drive tray and it pulls straight out. As you can see, there are plenty of ventilation holes all over the tray to allow a means for warm air to escape.

Inside we get a view of the four SATA connectors and also a glimpse of the cooling fan. The interior is large and open enough to provide sufficient airflow to the installed drives.
