Starting at the top, Prolimatech has retained the polished stainless steel top fin from the Rev. B, and retained the distinctive stamped design of the original, but the stainless should be resistant to scratches and easy to keep shiny, if you care about such things. Six-6mm heatpipes carry the heat from the base into the finned area to be dissipated by the fan(s.) This tower cooler design is basically two separate fin arrays for each set of six ‘pipes. The new copper fins are readily visible and actually give the cooler some visual interest.

Mr. Bones likes the look as well. The fins are relatively widely spaced and the cooler should produce good cooling with lower-speed, lower-pressure fans as well as higher performance units. Prolimatech claims that the additional copper finnage is strategically placed for maximum heat dissipation.

While the fins are joined on the sides of the Super Mega, there is still plenty of open area here, too. The build quality and packaging allowed the cooler to arrive in pristine condition with no scuffs or bent fins. Of course, all bets are off after I get my ham-sized paws on it, but it looks great now.

The base is copper (as are the six heatpipes) and plated in, I assume, nickel. The fit is outstanding and the closely spaced ‘pipes promise good performance. The base doesn't have the highly polished finish we're used to seeing on most high performance coolers, but there's a very good reason for this. Prolimatech has the following warning posted prominently on their website:
Lapping Warning!
Prolimatech does not condone any type of lapping done to the CPU or to heatsink base. Every Prolimatech's heatsink base is designed on a pin-point scale of how the base is to be flat and/or curved where it's needed to be. We have programed our machines to machine the surface in a very calculated way. Any after-manufacture lapping or modding done to the base will alter the design, hence negating its performance factor as well as its warranty.
