CONCLUSIONS & AFTERTHOUGHTS
The Packard Bell Fast Media Remote Control is a very good addition
to a PC that is used for multimedia (whether videos, music, tv, etc…).
The programmable options and variety of available software make it easily
customizable, meaning it can suit nearly anyone's needs.
Granted, that may also put some users off who prefer a simple turn-key
solution.
The price is certainly right. You can find these remotes for under
ten bucks most of the time. For that kind of money, you simply cannot
go wrong… even the cons listed in this review are easily outweighed
by the price.
Also, if you guys (and girls) want to check out a good alternative
to the Packard Bell PC Remote, take a look at the ATI Remote Wonder
Review HERE.
Pros
· Inexpensive
· Easy to use
· Lots of options with the 34 buttons
· Choice of software (most of which are free)
Cons
· Serial connection. Would prefer USB.
· Configuration can be tricky depending on software choice
· Have to find software that is right for you and your system instead
of a turn-key solution
· Infrared means having to point the remote directly at the receiver.
Line of sight is not always an option if the computer is in a separate
room.
