OCZ Performance Series PC-4400 memory is specifically designed for high frequency operation on Intel i865 and i875 chipset based motherboards through OCZ’s HyperSpeed® technology. It is capable of reaching outrageous speeds of up to 550MHz at CL 3-4-4-8. Because these modules contain special PCB’s and firmware to allow the module to run at the highest possible frequencies, timings lower than CL 3-4-4-8 may not be possible, regardless of the module frequency.

Every Dual Channel Kit from OCZ is hand tested as a matched pair across a wide variety of motherboards to ensure flawless performance on most motherboards.

PRODUCT COMPOSITION & PICTORIAL

With a pricepoint as low as US$335, OCZ's PC4400 offering is over US$100 cheaper than Corsair PC4400 (Review: HERE) alternative. Don't get me wrong, I personally love Corsair's memory, but money talks and a price difference that high will definitely attract customers if it even performs at par with its competition.

This particular sample came in the usual memory blister packaging used by several manufacturers. Although it is cost effective, it doesn't do a whole lot to protect the memory from shipping damage so make sure your retailer packages it properly for delivery.

This 1GB kit comes with two 512meg dimms perfect to use in your dual channel capable AMD or Intel system. Just as a side note, AMD users do not need DDR550. Most AMD computers will not be able to reach DDR550 without hitting the CPU's overclocking ceiling.

Each memory stick comes complete with its own attractive OCZ stamped copper heatspreader. Copper heatspreaders compliment DDR550 perfectly due to the excessive amount of heat radiated from memory running this fast at 2.8volts. At DDR550, the heatspreaders were very warm to the touch but with proper case airflow you will have no problem with failures.

Hey it has a lifetime warranty even if it fails at 2.9 volts. Consider it tweaker's insurance. =P
