<---Shop for the Logitech MX900 Bluetooth Optical Mouse Here
PRODUCT INSTALLATION
Installation of the MX900 is exceptionally easy. You simply
have to plug the mouse into a free USB port, connect the base into an
outlet, install the batteries and your mouse is ready! It's important
to note that due to an HID (Human Interface Device) profile in the receiver,
your mouse will work as your system is booting up.
From there, you will want to install SetPoint from the
CD. SetPoint has replaced MouseWare as the utility of choice to configure
your device. It uses a much better interface and gives you more options.
SetPoint allows you to also assign customized key commands to certain
buttons.
You can see from this image that doing so is quite simple.
When I am preparing screenshots and digital pictures for these reviews,
I have to use various keyboard shortcuts to speed up the process of
formatting the images. I have created actions in Photoshop to help me
along. To test out this mouse, I assigned different keyboard shortcuts
to the different buttons, and I was able to breeze through all of the
review images in no time! What a relief!
I tried the same thing in a couple different games to
see how much it would help. I tested various keyboard commands from
Warcraft III and actually laughed at how simple certain tasks became.
I also tested it in Morrowind, and found that it was especially useful
when using multiple spells.
SetPoint allows you to quickly check the charge on your
batteries. I found this especially useful, as I did not want to have
to keep charging the batteries every night. Batteries only have a certain
amount of charges in them, so why waste them if you don't have to. (I
could not find any information on the Logitech website detailing how
many charges I could expect from these batteries.)
SetPoint also has a Tools page which offers a lot of help
for people new to the program and new to Bluetooth technology.
The CD also includes Mobile Phone Suite, which works with
Bluetooth mobile phones. With this, you can send and receive text messages
between your phone and computer. It is a very user-friendly application.
