Good Work Systems is an innovative computer peripherals design company headquartered in Berkeley , California with a commitment to developing ergonomic input devices that increase performance and reduce operational stresses. In November of 2002, Good Work Systems introduced the world's first optical gaming mouse, the RTR-720. The company has specialized in gaming peripherals since 2001 and is currently developing products for both the gaming and DIMAR (Digital Image Manipulation and Rendering) markets. All products run under the company's flagship proprietary peripheral platform software, PAL™ (Peripheral Action Language) which enables customized, ergonomic, and intelligent operation of PC peripherals.
For most people, a mousepad is merely an afterthought, and many, even gamers, use whatever is available at the local discount store, if they use one at all. For a true gamer, however, a quality mousepad is essential. With a cheap pad, you're prone to pad slippage at the worst possible moment, or facing spotty response from an uneven, glossy table surface at your local LAN party. Good Work Systems, known primarily for their R2 gaming mouse, enter the mousepad fray with their Launchpad Gaming Mousepad System, designed to optimize the performance of your optical/laser mouse. I'm letting my rodent run around on one, so let's see how it performs.
PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES
Satin-finished .015” poly vinyl acetate (PVA) film provides a superbly smooth but tough glide surface that can be “tuned” with GWS Killenflor™ Wax Mouse Pad Treatment for the ultimate in smoothness and glide.
This special unwoven rayon and polyester mat is the “floor” that gives the pad its amazing optical responsiveness. Surface texture is ideal for optical sensor feature detection, and the reflective properties of the fiber mat keeps the sensor working with maximum light and dpi, even with fast moves!
The RTR-720 as a compound motion device, utilizes the combined movement of the fingers and thumb to move and control the mouse precisely, without requiring movement of the hand itself. The Swivel, (a hole at the right edge of the board) may be used by the little finger to apply positive or negative force in any direction as an added means of control that can “guide and correct” mouse movement. It expands the “sweet spot” zone of high accuracy and control because while the thumb and fingers are moving the mouse normally, the little finger can pull or push the entire hand, to “finesse” the mouse movement. The swivel can be used at will, and provides a truly competitive gaming fundamental for the Rotary grip mouse user.
Mouse Pad Mounting System
Mouse pads are subject to the irritating problem of sliding on the desktop while in use, due to stresses caused by the fast, repetitive movement of the mouse in gaming. Gamers need a mouse pad system that stays precisely in place even during the most active sessions. The LaunchPad solution is found in the large frame (11 ½” x 9”) with integrated weighted mouse bungee. It provides the mass distributed on six non-skid feet to stay put no matter what. The LaunchPad is an elegant and trouble-free solution to mouse pad slippage and mouse cord tangles, all in one.
Cord Handling Device (Mouse Bungee)
The Mouse Bungee is a simple, cost-effective desktop device that eliminates mouse cord tangles and snags and takes less than a minute to install. The patented twin spring suspension supports the top exiting RTR-720 mouse cord even better than it handles the desk dragging cords of other mice. When used with a mouse bungee, the RTR-720 delivers virtually cordless performance. There is virtually no weight or play of the mouse cord when comfortably set for movement to the gamers preference. Used by gamers for snag-free gaming the world round, this appliance is highly recommended for RTR-720 users for the cordless performance it makes possible.
