PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH

Outside of its packaging, the XT-1264 has an unassuming look that belies some interesting features. There are no LED lights or other bling, but let's hope that cooling performance is how this product makes a statement.

Here's what Kingwin calls their Direct H.T.C. (Heatpipe Touch Chip) technology. I'm sure we've all seen this before, and it looks like a good design element, but I've tested a lot of coolers like this and been disappointed more often than not. This base design dosen't lend itself to a mirror finish, but the surface is dead flat and perfectly acceptable. As you can see, the AMD mounting clip comes pre-installed and the 120mm fan is a 4-wire unit with PWM functionality.

In this photo you can see that the outside edges of the fifty something aluminum fins are folded over, forcing all the airflow generated by the fan over the fins to achieve maximum heat dissipation. Note also that the bottom two fins are somewhat longer than the rest and angled downward to channel airflow to the area immediately surrounding the socket.

Mr. Bones is very impressed by the quality and materials used to construct the XT-1264. The fins are uniformly spaced along the 6mm ‘pipes to create a cooler that looks good and, hopefully, works well.
