With the relatively simplicity of a processor, an overall introduction pictorial is really not required. What you see is what you get with a processor. The only real way a consumer is tell them apart is by their product number which is laser etched into the front heatspreader.
Disclaimer - As for the benchmarking, seeing this is an engineering sample sent to us directly from Intel and thus is multiplier unlocked, it wouldn't exactly be fair to say this is what you would be receiving when you order one in a retail package. Because of this, definitive overclocking benchmarks will not be undertaken for this review in particular. If we did, we couldn't guarantee you would get the same results.
With the relative increase in the amount of processing power crammed into the same form factor as a standard Core 2 Duo processor, the Core 2 Extreme will naturally run warmer. For example, the E6750 recently reviewed HERE has a thermal design of 65w whereas the QX6850 being reviewed today is spec'd at 130w of total thermal output. So keep in mind that you have to have a decent cooler to keep the temperature reasonable.
Now for the quad-core being reviewed today, expect a full idle temperature in a perfectly ventilated case to be around 47-55c. Under full load, don't be surprised if the core will ramp up to 65c at 50% load and closer to 75c if an even higher load is applied. Some people might panic and think this is to hot, and that may be true for your standard Core 2 Duo, but not for a Core 2 Extreme. The core will not throttle itself until well over anything you will witness in a properly cooled case environment.

Benchmarking with be straight forward across the board. Nothing will be changed other than the processor and the usual BIOS changes to get the tested processor to work properly. Voltage and everything else is set to Auto. You can't get anymore simple.
Benchmarking was undertaken in a pure 32bit Windows XP environment seeing at this time, Vista is not stable enough for benchmarking and a 64bit computing environment is still basically a minority in computer industry at this time.
