POV-RAY BETA 3.7 v29
As a good overall and very processor intensive benchmark, POV-Ray tests the photo rendering ability of any processor. The beta version being used today allows for multi-core benchmarking.
Basic photo rendering while using the i5-661 wasn't really that bad at all and shouldn't have any problem handling any minor photo touch ups and editing. Just keep in mind that this processor is not really intended for this purpose.
CINEBENCH 10 RENDERING BENCHMARK
Cinebench is an excellent rendering benchmark to see how a processor will manage a set photo rendering task.
Cinebench rendering with the i5-661 was as expected for an entry level processor. But it was still almost 100% faster than an older Core 2 Duo E6750 so you can see that this cheap processor does have some punch.
PCMARK 2005 CPU BENCHMARK
PCMark 2005 is an excellent basic benchmark that tests the CPU by putting it through day to day tasks such as file transfer, audio compression etc.
Seeing this benchmark is a great overall gauge of how a processor will do in a standard multi-task computing environment. As a legacy test and the lack of taking advantage of all the cores, it still was just as fast during this benchmark than much more expensive processors. Moral of the story is if you aren't going to take full advantage of an expensive processor, why buy it?
