INTEL CORPORATE PROFILE
For more than three decades, Intel Corporation has developed
technology enabling the computer and Internet revolution that has changed
the world. Founded in 1968 to build semiconductor memory products, Intel
introduced the world's first microprocessor in 1971. Today, Intel supplies
the computing and communications industries with chips, boards, systems,
and software building blocks that are the "ingredients" of computers,
servers and networking and communications products. These products are
used by industry members to create advanced computing and communications
systems. Intel's mission is to be the preeminent building block supplier
to the Internet economy.
PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
With 64bit computing becoming more and more of a reality
in the near future, Intel and AMD have both now released their new 64bit
capable processors into the consumer market. Although AMD has easily
broken through by releasing their 64bit capable processors first, unfortunately
there was no real feasible 64bit operating system for people to take
advantage of the enhanced security and memory handling abilities that
will grace the market once a full consumer based 64bit operating system
is introduced.
Intel chose to hold off on their new processor release
to allow the new operating system to mature and evolve into its' final
beta stages in order to release a processor that can be feasibly used
with a operating system it is intended for instead of having people
purchase a 64bit processor earlier on only to find out that there is
faster 64bit processors available now that they could have waited to
purchase instead of finding that their 64bit capable processor is deemed
out of date by the time the operating it was intended for is even released.
Just seems to be a waste in my mind.
With Windows x64 Edition nearing its' full release date,
Intel has released their 64bit capable 6XX and Extreme Edition line
of processors to tackle the new 64bit challenge and the nice thing is
if you own a Intel® 925XE Express or i915 chipset based motherboard,
64bit computer is only a processor and a BIOS flash upgrade away.
Let's see what the new line of Intel processors have to
offer.
