Icy Dock did not include a fan on this model and instead went with aluminum construction and ventilation holes to provide cooling. All previous enclosures I've reviewed have had at least one small fan built in, so I am curious to see how well passive cooling works on this enclosure.
PRODUCT COMPOSITION
The unconventional clear packaging gives the buyer a preview of what's inside and lists out the features and specs. All in all it's an attractive bundle that sells for roughly $65 US.

Icy Dock provides everything needed to get up and running right out of the box. This includes a USB 2.0 cable, FireWire cable, power adapter, and instruction manual. The only thing the user has to provide is a SATA hard drive. No drivers or software needed!
PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH

First impressions of the enclosure are good; the aluminum is thick and sturdy and the overall look is quite elegant. The only parts that aren't made of aluminum are the ends which are constructed of plastic. The only graphics to note are Icy Dock logos gracing both sides.

The front sports an eject button at the top that releases the tray lever (more on this in a bit). Underneath the button are three ventilation holes. Below those is a tiny LED indicator for power and activity. Many other products have blue indicators these days, but this LED is a nice white. It blinks during drive activity and remains steady on when idle.

Several ventilation holes line the top of the unit. Warm air rises, so it makes sense to put the holes here.
