PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES
There are a few items that stand out in the above specs. Note the big difference between the rated wattage and peak load numbers. Also note the >85% efficiency rating and the active PFC. Very nice. With four +12V rails delivering a total of 52A, this PSU has the guts to power all but the most demanding systems.
It's the feature set, however, that really sets this Hiper PSU apart from the crowd. For starters, the PSU also acts as an eight port USB hub with an additional powered port for charging USB devices. This unit also features some innovative “ExTender” cables (which we'll discuss later) and a very quiet fan.
Connectors are plentiful and the “ExTender” cables are actually quite useful, as we'll see a bit later. Both 4-pin and 8-pin (EPS) CPU +12V power connectors are supplied, as well as 6-pin and 8-pin graphics card connectors. A cable connecting the PSU to a motherboard pinheader allows USB functionality.
Hiper ships their power supplies in a sturdy plastic “toolbox” with a top handle and sturdy latch. With the box open, you can see a top tray with several compartments. This is a nice gesture; giving the consumer a little something extra.
Inside, we find documentation booklets, mounting screws and six Velcro cable ties. The purple and mesh bag holds the “ExTender” cables and a wall power cord is, of course, also included along with the PSU itself. Let's take a closer look at all this stuff.
