PRODUCT INSTALLATION AND TESTING

The process is the same with hard drives – remove the cage, install the drives, and then install the cage back into the case. A maximum of two drives can be installed.

Even though the remote is designed for use with Windows Vista, I found that it worked just fine with third party HTPC software under XP SP2. The buttons are laid out in a practical arrangement and the remote is comfortable to hold.

Now it's time to take a few temperature readings. Idle temps were recorded after the system had been sitting at the Windows desktop for one hour, and load temps were recorded after two hours of stress testing with Prime 95.

For comparison I also included results from two other HPTC cases I've had this system installed in. CPU temps were a bit higher than the other cases although still within an acceptable range. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much from the 60mm fans anyway. The noise level they create is noticeable and borderline annoying. During quiet scenes of a movie it is easy to hear the system running which would equate to thumbs down from HTPC enthusiasts.
