PRODUCT PICTORIAL AND WALKTHROUGH (cont'd)

If you need some extra cord length, you can add an extra two feet with the included extension cord. I did not notice any degradation in sound quality from using it.

Since ear buds rest inside your ear, comfort is a big concern. Thankfully you have your choice of three different sizes of end tips to help give the most comfortable fit possible. The caps are easy to change out, just pull the old one off and put the new one on.

PRODUCT USE AND TESTING

Comfort

Before using the ear buds, I would recommend trying out all three sizes of end tips to see which one provides you with the right balance of a comfortable but secure fit. For me, it was the small size tips that worked out the best. During usage I didn't have any problems with them falling out while walking around and turning my head every so often, and at the same time they didn't feel too tight in my ear. They are also nice and light which keeps discomfort to a minimum, which is important when using them for long periods of time.

For me, the fit was just right and I am satisfied with the resulting comfort level. Now let's find out how they sound.

Testing

My first listen with these ear buds was an audio book. I noticed that with the ear buds in, ambient sounds around me became slightly muffled, which is a good thing because it allowed me to focus more on what I'm listening to. These ear buds do not have any active noise canceling features but since the silicone tips rest inside the ear canal, it's natural that some outside sounds are going to be drowned out. With an audio book it was particularly nice to have less background noise, and the quality of the sound itself was very good. Voices were crisp, clear, and well balanced.

Even though some outside noise was muffled, I was by no means cut off from the world. I could still hear people around me talking, car horns honking, etc. It just wasn't as pronounced.

I listen to lots of different types of music from pop to heavy metal to dance to rap. After a few days of listening to all different types of music I was left pleased with the sound quality. Highs and mids are strong without being too bright and bass actually thumps pretty well for a set of ear buds. It's not anything that will blow your mind, but it's good. Overall the sound is clear and balanced and I didn't have to make any equalizer adjustments to get good sound. Don't expect perfection or the level of acoustics you'd get from a higher end set of ear buds, but for $20, the sound is impressive and the average user will be happy.

Durability

Like any set of ear buds, these are not indestructible. Common sense is required when transporting them, and personally I need to keep ear buds (or anything with a cord) away from places where my cats could get to them. Naturally, I was glad that G-Cube included a carrying case because it gives me a safe place to store both the ear buds and a portable media player. When it's time to go out, I can toss the whole thing in my purse and take it with them. Since I've been using the ear buds, I would say they are as durable as any other set in this price range and the cord seems to be even stronger than on some ear buds I've used.
