EPOX CORPORATE PROFILE
With over 10 years specialized experience in the computer
field, EPoX Computer Company was established in February 1995. The company
grew rapidly with expected sales and production capacity and in less
than two years our worldwide sales and technical service network was
built-up. With a strong R&D team, EPoX was not only able to provide
a wide range of products but also has been recognized as an innovation
pioneer in the field. Besides the computer field, EPoX has also been
expanding into the communications field since 1998. To design and produce
'the 3C' of integrated products is the goals planned for the near future.
PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Back in the good ole' days of overclocking the first Duron
and Athlon processors, Epox motherboards were known to be the board
of choice to get the highest possible overclock with rock solid stability.
Since then, I personally have not seen as much coverage on their products
as I have seen with their competition in the enthusiast and mainstream
market.
Today I will be reviewing Epox's latest edition to their
i865PE (Springdale) based motherboards. The EP-4PDA5+ is not your everyday
Springdale motherboard. Although it is not targeted towards the enthusiast
market, you will see in the upcoming pages that if you didn't know what
chipset the motherboard, you would swear it was a Canterwood.
Aside from performance, this motherboard is no slouch
in the feature department either. With an extremely overclocker friendly
BIOS, 7.1 channel onboard sound, Gigabit LAN, four SATA drive capability
and Prescott support, it's hard to believe that the MSRP is only weighing
in at a measly US$110. Is this the fast and cheap motherboard the cash
strapped masses have been waiting for?
